Humphries Weaving: The Quest for His Majesty’s Silk

5 October 2018 by Editor in Home, Interiors & Auto, Textile Insights

This fascinating video highlights the chance discoveries that led to the weaving of ‘His Majesty’s Geranium and Gold Colour Silk’ for the restoration of the Saloon at Brighton’s Royal Pavilion. Restored to its stunning 1823 scheme of regal splendour, the saloon is again open to the public and celebrates the skill and artistry of today’s craftsmen and women who recreated the dazzling silver, gold and crimson decoration that George IV originally commissioned to reflect his status as King.

Humphries Weaving proudly retain its roots in traditional weaving processes and loom craft, as well as embracing evolving manufacturing techniques. Believing in design excellence and integrity above all else, they use their extensive knowledge, unique archive, and technical skill to produce beautiful and interesting fabrics for the world’s most prestigious clients.
